Traditional Grids VS. Microgrids
Whenever power is used, distributed energy is created before it reaches the consumer. Traditional power generation systems deliver power through power lines typically across long distances. The most economical and reliable power distribution is produced closest to the location of the customer.
Microgeneration uses renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, that produce electricity on a small-scale. Homeowners, small businesses and municipalities use micro-generation for their electricity.
Simson-Maxwell supplied microgrids operate autonomously and are often low-voltage AC that use diesel or natural gas generator sets. Microgrids are localized, small-scale grids, contrary to the conventional power grids transmitting electricity over a long distance from a large power source.
